5G at APS2019

Last week we attended the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia.  In addition to our CTO, Dr Rod Waterhouse, participating in several IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society ADCOM and other society committee meetings, we co-rganized a special industry focus session on the design and integration of beyond 5G communications for mobile devices.  Here we had presentations from several companies including LG Electronics, Sony, Vivo Mobile Communications as well as leading universities, on how to integrate all the antennas of different frequency bands (below 6 GHz and millimeter-wave) into the latest 5G phones.

In addition to this session, we also organized a special panel session on Antennas for 5G and future networks; perspectives and opinions from both industry and academia.  This was an interactive session where the audience asked a panel of experts from both industry and universities questions related to the future in this area.  A very exciting time for antenna engineers!
